At Waterford Computer Clinic in Waterford city, laptop screen replacement starts from €135, including the new screen and fitting.
Touchscreens, high-resolution panels, gaming laptops and MacBooks cost more because the parts are more expensive. Send us your laptop make and model by phone (087 641 9553) or email and we’ll confirm the exact price before any work starts. Screen replacements come with a 90-day warranty.
No. If you bring your device to Waterford Computer Clinic for repair, the diagnosis is free. We check it, find the likely fault and give you a price before we start. And if we can’t fix it, you don’t pay for the repair attempt: no fix, no fee.
The only paid check is a written fault report on company letterhead, for example for an insurance claim. It costs €35 and is for customers who need the report rather than a repair.
Most software repairs at Waterford Computer Clinic start from €90, including Windows repair, virus removal and speed-up. Laptop dust cleaning and battery replacement start from €65, laptop screens from €135 and SSD upgrades from €255.
We give you one all-in price upfront, with no hourly labour charges. If the job turns out bigger than expected, we contact you with a revised price first. We never carry out extra work without your agreement, and if we can’t fix your device, you pay nothing for the repair attempt.
As a rule of thumb, a repair makes sense when it costs less than about half of what the laptop is currently worth. A laptop with a broken screen or a slow hard drive is usually worth fixing; an old machine that needs a new motherboard often isn’t.
We tell you honestly which option is better value. If replacement makes more sense, we can offer a refurbished laptop and move your files across.
All repairs at Waterford Computer Clinic come with a 90-day warranty. If the same fault comes back within 90 days, bring the device back and we’ll fix it at no extra cost. Refurbished laptops we sell also come with a 90-day warranty.
The warranty covers the repair we carried out. It doesn’t cover new damage, such as drops or liquid spills after the repair.
Usually, yes. The most common causes are a faulty charger, a damaged charging port (DC jack), a dead battery or a motherboard fault. Battery replacement starts from €65.
Bring the laptop and its charger to our shop at 42 Barrack Street, Waterford. We check it free of charge, tell you what’s wrong and give you a price before any repair. If we can’t fix it, you don’t pay: no fix, no fee.
In most cases the cooling system is clogged with dust and the thermal paste on the processor has dried out. The laptop then runs hot, gets noisy, slows down and may switch itself off.
Our laptop cleaning service starts from €65. We open the laptop, clean the fans, vents and heatsink, and replace the thermal paste. Left untreated, constant overheating can damage the motherboard.
Switch it off immediately, unplug the charger and, if possible, remove the battery. Don’t switch it on to check whether it still works, don’t charge it, and don’t use a hairdryer or a bag of rice.
Turn the laptop upside down to drain and bring it to Waterford Computer Clinic as soon as you can. Liquid starts corroding the motherboard within days, so the sooner it’s cleaned, the better the chance of saving the laptop and your files.
Yes. We replace laptop batteries, keyboards, touchpads, charging ports (DC jacks), hinges, cracked plastics, speakers and webcams, and we sell replacement laptop chargers. Laptop battery replacement starts from €65.
Parts for common brands such as HP, Dell, Lenovo, Acer and Asus are easy to source. For less common models we check availability and price before you commit.
At Waterford Computer Clinic, an HDD-to-SSD upgrade starts from €255. The price includes the SSD and moving your Windows, programs and files to the new drive.
It is one of the most cost-effective upgrades for an older laptop or PC: a computer that takes minutes to start and open programs typically becomes several times faster. We can add more RAM at the same time if needed.
Yes. A PC that is completely dead usually has a failed power supply. One that powers on but shows nothing on screen often has a RAM, graphics card or motherboard fault.
We test each component, tell you what has failed and quote for the replacement. We replace power supplies, motherboards, processors, RAM and graphics cards, and clean out the dust that causes overheating and random shutdowns.
Yes. We repair and upgrade gaming laptops and gaming PCs, including overheating, power and display faults, and upgrades to SSD, RAM, power supply and graphics card.
Gaming machines use more expensive parts, so repairs usually cost more than on a standard laptop. We give you an all-in price after checking the machine.
Virus and malware removal at Waterford Computer Clinic starts from €90. We remove viruses, spyware, adware and unwanted programs, install reliable antivirus protection and check that Windows updates work. Your files are kept.
If a pop-up claims to be Microsoft support and asks you to call a number, or demands payment to unlock your files, don’t call and don’t pay. Switch the computer off and contact us.
The usual causes are an old mechanical hard drive, too little RAM, too many programs starting with Windows, malware, or an overheating, dusty cooling system.
Our speed-up service starts from €90 and covers cleanup, startup optimisation, malware removal and Windows checks. If the hard drive is the bottleneck, an SSD upgrade (from €255) gives the biggest improvement.
No. Before repairing or reinstalling Windows, we save your documents, photos and other personal files and put them back afterwards. Windows repair or reinstallation starts from €90.
After a clean reinstall, programs need to be installed again, so have your licence keys and logins ready (for Microsoft Office, for example). If your hard drive is failing, we tell you before we start, because the drive may need replacing too.
In many cases, yes. If the laptop or PC is dead but the drive is healthy, we can usually copy your files to a new drive or computer. Data on a failing drive can often be saved if you stop using it straight away.
Drives with severe mechanical damage (clicking, grinding or not spinning) need a specialist clean-room lab, and we’ll tell you honestly if that’s the case. We also transfer files and settings from an old computer to a new one.
